Legal Basis for processing information
FIMA is an alliance that directly supports other members within the manufacturing industry.
We provide a platform for other members to promote their products to obtain new customers and integration opportunities for fellow manufactures.
We collect information on other businesses who are likely to have a legitimate business interest in fire safety. Business information is “Opt-Out” as standard, which means the information can be used to contact you unless you have chosen to opt-out.
This is different to personal information. Your home address, phone number and personal information are all “Opt-in” as standard. Which means that it cannot be collected or used to contact you unless you have given permission to be contacted.
It should also be noted that your individual work email counts as personal information as it can be used to identify an individual and cannot be used without permission.
Example:
Contact@fima.uk = Business information
my.name@fima.uk = Personal information
If your phone number or email address have been supplied to us by one of your colleagues, we must confirm that you are happy to continue receiving communications from us in the future.

Opt-in
We will only send you marketing emails if you have opted-in to hear from us via the FIMA website.
FIMA is not responsible for the data processed by 3rd party websites including other FIMA members. This includes if you are following a hyperlink from the FIMA website to a 3rd party member. Please see our individual member websites for their policies on data collection.
Opt-out
You have the right to opt-out of communications from FIMA at any time. Our emails must always provide you with a way to unsubscribe. If you have received a call and ask not to be contacted again, FIMA must respect these wishes and have processes in place to ensure that your personal information is not used to contact you.
Additionally, businesses can use the Corporate Telephone Preference Service if they do not wish their businesses to be contacted.
Right to be forgotten
If you choose to opt-out of communications, a company can still hold on to personal information they have legally collected about you. The right to be forgotten means that if you request it, companies must delete all the personal information they have about you. Whilst a company may have a legal requirement to keep some records (such as financial transactions) the majority of your data must be deleted and failing to remove the data, or using it again for marketing purposes, would be a breach of GDPR.
If you would like to opt-out or use your right to be forgotten, you can leave us a message here.
